Odd, Jerry, I never had a problem in the least with leaking front side
down. I'd be a litle leary to store them upside down, but whatever
works for you, I guess in the end is what works...Bill Bergh just
recommended front side down to me in October 2000 and said not to use
rubber bands to hold the EZ-plugs in place...and I've been doing it
like that ever since.

If it was an 1280 cart, the face with the chip on it goes down. If you
don't have an 1280/1290/1290/ other chipped cart/ to look at,
well-lets see...imagine the cart inserted into the printer. If the
printer head was transparent and you could see the cart through it,
then you'd see the back of the cart if you faced the printer bed. The
FRONT of the cart would not be visible, you'd have to peer over the
back of printer (or it's paper tray enterance) and remove the top
cover to see the "front" side of cart that faces to the inside of
printer. Seems hard for me to explain-as you face the printer, it's
the side of the cart that faces away from you, towards the guts of
printer.

Said even another way, with the front side down you'd see the exit
port that contacts the nipple (the bottom of cart) standing vertically
with the port/EZ-plug down near table surface.

It's also the filling position for a MIS CFS or vacuum filled cart.
Whew!

Jim it was the rivets that leaked. What is the difference between rivets
and "EZ" plugs?

I never had leaks from either the rivits or the EZ-Plugs...but of
course I mean AFTER they were installed. I did get leaking as I
installed or removed both. Maybe that's what you refer to. Or maybe
you had a bad cart seal. Or maybe I'm just lucky<g>. Anyway, the
EZ-Plugs are around $15, quite a price diff from the Rivets. If you
want to see them, they may still be on the nomorecarts.com site under
"accesories". If not there you may find a picture at mediastreet, or
possibly inkjetart.com

It consists of pins mounted in clear plastic rectangles. One pin for
the k cart and 3 or 5 pins mounted in a row for the 1160 or 1280 color
cart, depending. Big advantage is they go in and out fast.
Disadvantage is I have had so many crack apart on me it's getting to
be an old joke. They are replaced under warrenty.

Don't you just love the quality of which things are made? $15 for a 5
cent piece of plastic that breaks the second or third time you use it.

Bah! Humbuggery!

The weird thing is though Jerry, is that I never had one crack while
installing or removing. The plastic seems to either crack on it's own
or I'm thinking that it's real sensitive to cleaning with something
like Fantastik or other then tepid water. Or maybe the dry climate
here, I don't know. I still think they're a better solution than MIS
Rivits for most purposes, I just keep an extra set on hand that I can
use, if waiting for a new one to arrive thru warranty.
