Sharpness and the print driver used

2002-09-13 by Mark

Hey Folks,

Thanks for all the help with paper advice. In the end, I really
couldn't stomach the cost of PhotoRag and with the possible financial
problems of BrightCube, I wound up going with Epson's Archival Matte.
I've made a couple of prints and they've turned out quite
satisfactory.
I did notice, however, that the prints did not appear as sharp as the
scans appeared on my screen. There was a slight, and I mean slight,
softening in the print. It's not a huge difference. I've been using
the Woolf curve with the Epson driver on an Epson 860 with MIS FS
inks. I'm wondering if the Peizo driver would result in slightly
sharper prints or have I just bumped up against a limitation of the
Epson 860. I hope someone would be kind enough to comment on this.

Thanks in advance,

Mark
