Old Epson 3000 - Not used for two years!

Old Epson 3000 - Not used for two years!

2002-09-15 by Bo Wrangborg

Hallo fellows,
I tried on the Epson list but I didn't get it throgh.
But thinking of it - the real QUAD/Specialists seems to be in this
forum - so I try this with you.

I just got an Epson stylus 3000 for *free*!!!
It has just been standing in a corner in an office for two years -
unused! - Got it in the hunt for a used Epson 3000. Not bad? I don't
know. Perhaps it no use trying in getting it going???

But:
1/ It has *not* been in use for two years!!
(Cartriges was in and have not dried out)
2/ Found the manual on a Epson US-site
3/ Driver? I got WIN XP pro - no driver for that at Epson.
   Use WIN 2000 driver?????)
5/ Don't dare to start and test the printer - might be totaly
clogged??? How do I reach the heads and pump WINDIX into the
head with a syringe and a tube, for soaking the heads for some
  days before testing it.

For testing I got 2 x 4 orginal Epson cartiges. Should be handy for
tests.

I'm rather handy - how to dismantle the Epson 3000 for cleaning
and "Windexing" the heads.
Have three 1280's (1290 which I did the CFS on myself with parts from
MIS! They works great!)

Any other tip and trix?

Have ordered MIS quad inks and emty cartriges and want to give it a
shoot!

It would be nice if I could do 17x22 B/W QUAD/PIEZO prints with it.

Do you think it's possible to get it going - or shall I buy another
used one and have this for spare parts?

Hej Bo,

Looks like you are asking for (possibly) unnecessary work. If it were
I, I'd at least try a few nozzle checks to see if I could get the ink
flowing.

Good luck,

Tim

Hi,

Thanks Tim!

So far all screens ok - Ink and head is OK!! (Jipiee! So far!)
(Using the orginal colour carts and ordinary letter size copy paper.)

*But* the front feeder don't take the paper.

I'm just now using the buttons on the printer for "test prints".
(LF + ON)!

The front rubber-puller seems to be ok - cleaned them with alcohol.
So there must be other rubber puller inside??

Two questions (Windows XP):
1/Is it ok to use the single sheet backfeeder (I'll anyway do single
prints) EEM (EAM that is?) 17"x24"
2/ What driver for Win XP (NT driver or Win2000)???

This might be a lucky day??

Regards
Fiat Lux!
Bo

Re: [Digital BW]Epson 3000 -feeding problems.

2002-09-15 by Bo Wrangborg

Hallo,

so far I did install the Win 2000 driver in win XP prof!
Seems to work! OK!

Prints well screen pattern and alignments are very close!
But I can only use the 1 paper back feeder.

Using the front feeder paper just rushes through.
Pressing LF/FF paper do not go into "ready to print" place - - just
rushes through.

Is there a dirty diod or sensor checking the top of the paper?
Where is it if it's the case?

Someone else having this problem.

Hey, I want to go quad with this printer!
(And by the way, can you go quad with this printer in Win XP?)

Leave it for service here in Sweden? (I can get another used printer
for that money!)

Suggestions?

Fiat Lux!
Bo
