MISS inks: loading curves in photoshop7

MISS inks: loading curves in photoshop7

2002-09-24 by oceansoul7

i'm using MISS inks variable tone set on an epson 1280, windows 98,
photoshop7 and only the 2 curves "...c14 " and ". . .nc15" will load-
all the remaining ones won't load. are there versions that will work
w/ PS7? if not, is there a work around? the only other edition of
photoshop i have is 5.5 elements- can i edit in PS7 and bring into
5.5 for the curves? if so, how? thanks, craig

Craig, I am also using PS7 but all 4 of Pauls curves loaded for me.
Allthough I am using a 1200 Epson, the curve # are different. Not
much help.

Mine load fine.

But I did want to warn you about something in PS7 vs PS6. Paul wrote
the curves using PS6 I believe. But the conversion space is from gamma
2.2 (greyscale) to sRGB (when you convert to RGB). If you had version
6 and 7 you would find that the two versions convert the file
differently to sRGB. Looking at the histograms the two versions are
slightly off in mean, SD, etc. In most cases it's not enough to affect
the print tones, but it did cause me posterization in shadows in one
print I did.

The solution is to use Adobe98 as the conversion space instead of sRGB
which gives less or no change from ver 6 to ver 7. What I do is
simply use ver 6 to print and ver 7 to do my editing.

Note also that this applies to Win98Se and 1280. Mac platform and
other printers /windows already specify Adobe 98 as chosen color
space.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
