Epson 2200 beginners questions

I'm on day 1 and very happy but have 2 simiple questions - should I leave it on over night? what if no use is scheduled for several days? does start up use more inks? - when I switch between photo/matte ink can I save and re-use partially filled cartridges? thanks in advance Jim Hanson
