MIS VM and Epson 740

MIS VM and Epson 740

2002-09-26 by gaberegalbuto

I have been considering getting a set of MIS inks and converting my stylus 740. I like the idea of the variable mix inks, but don't see curves available for this printer. The grayscale workflow listed on the MIS site has no provision for the toning ink.

I know the cartridges are the same between the 740 and the 1160 but I wonder if the curves would also match.

Anyone out there ever use this inkset and printer combo?

I've been lurking here for a while meaning to post some curves that
I worked out for the 740, but for the MIS-FS inkset. I spent a long
time doing it, basically following the Randall workflow in
the "Files" section. The stock curves for the 1160 did not work
appropriately on the 740, there were a few areas on the step-wedge
that were off. After 26 revisions of the curves, I produced one
that I am happy with. It is on my home computer, so I will post it
when I get home. However, I doubt it will work well with the VM
inkset, so you probably are best modifying the curves yourself.
It's not hard, just tedious.
