I got some Eclipse Satine Bright White 190 from Inkjetart that other day. I
don't if Brightcube's paper business is going to survive in a different
organization of what. Too bad about their financial condition.

I think MediaStreet's version of PhotoRag will be my next effort. I really
don't like the way Museo prints -- to much grain on the 3000.

I agree. However, Museo's shadow tones didn't do well either.

Eclipse is the toughest one I've tested. Let's hope it doesn't disappear.

(I'm also serious about finding a way to post-process EAM to counteract the
acid. It's a long shot, but worth it, in my view.)

The Eclipse Satine is not going to disappear anytime soon. We just
purchased the entire inventory from the now defunct Brightcube. There
are 25 full pallets of it and other papers arriving today. There are
still thousands and thousands of sheets. For example, we have 49,200
sheets of the 190g 8.5x11 and no less than 5000 sheets of each of the
other sizes as well. Expect to see the roll sizes again in a matter
of a couple of weeks. We will be posting new incredibly low pricing
and real time inventories on our website over the weekend so that
people have an idea of what's still available. We are also working
diligently to continue the production of the Eclipse Satine, Semi-
Matte, and some of the other papers as well. The Eclipse Satine Soft
White is still available in 5x7, 8.5x11, and 11x17 sheets.

Brightcube paper will live on WAS: Replace Eclipse with Museo?! (Paul, et all) was Opinions on _papers for MIS inks

Paul,

I've heard from someone (the actual person really, but I'll him decide
when he wants to "officially" announce it) that Brightcube papers will
live on. He has arranged for the acquiring of the paper formulas and
relationships with the third-party manufacturers to continue to
produce these fine papers. He also purchased out all of Brightcube's
remaining stock. He's also hinted that prices will be coming down
considerably since he will be the source, no more middleman
distributors. In fact the cost, in quantity (not too large) of the
Eclipse Satine will rival the cost of EAM, even from Atlex.

Best regards,
 Richard

DOH! Sorry, I was comparing a 25 sheet box of Eclipse to a 50 sheet
box of EAM. But still! It will kick butt over the cost of Photo Rag.

Jim have you tried Legion's photo matte? It is a nice smooth paper,
brilliant
white and heavier than EAM.

Quick, silly question.

What actually has to be added to a paper to enhance the blacks, like the
Hahnemuhle papers have?

If its the coating, what chemical would be in it that would allow for
the deeper blacks?

If anyone knows, why wouldn't they make their papers with the superior
coatings that would allow these
blacks?

Re: [Digital BW] Replace Eclipse with Museo?! (Paul, et all) was Opinions on _papers for MIS inks

Jerry,

Yes I used it for awhile and was pleased with it. I evenutually
rejected it because in my "Sunny Colorado" south window test it faired
poorly. I learned later (from this list)that it was one of the few
papers I had used that had brighteners in it, so this probably
accounts for it.

I must say however, that I recently had an owner of one of my prints
come back to me for framing. The print was 9 months old, in average
room lighting with some window light (according to him). Printed on
this paper, I had to admit I liked the tone it presently had. It was
more or less neutral. I think I may have printed it MIS VM with the NC
curve...
