Flame wars - no more

Flame wars - no more

2002-09-26 by Antonis Ricos

Dear List Members,

I have in the past posted gentle reminders to bring to everyone's attention the
need to stay on topic and avoid personal attacks. Apparently, there are still
few who are willing to ruin the atmosphere of community that we are trying to
sustain here. As a result, I'd like to let everyone know that Martin and I have
decided to use the Yahoo controls in our disposal to either ban or place a
member on moderated status at our option.

Since we are doing this voluntarily, hoping to represent the majority of
members, we are also not planning on having a lot of discussions on and off
list on the matter. It's in poor enough taste if someone uses this and other lists
for their personal vendettas, we don't owe them our own time to resolve their
issues.

And by the way, we may also choose to delete messages that are offensive or
considered irrelevant on this list. We realize this doesn't help those who
received them as emails, but at least the archives will be spared some of the
noise.

We realize this may alienate some, but we are confident that the other 99.9%
will see this as necessary relief.

Please keep your comments on the list to what is relevant to digital bw printing
and the ways we can advance it.

Thank you all.

Thankyou,
I had just about given up on this list as a source of useful
information. It seems that there are a few list junkies that like to
see their name here and convert useful topics into meaningless
drivel. Surely question like "Should I use a D100?" is best posted
to a D100 forum. Some of the debates fill our members mailboxes with
nothing more than junk mail and discourage new members. Off topic
should be to a minimum.
Yes please Moderators, use the delete key.

Flame wars - no more

Martin and Antonis,

Thank you! Thank you! I know you'd rather not have to take steps to deal
with the one or two individuals who disrupt the otherwise amicable (more or
less) community we have here. However, whenever it is necessary, I
appreciate the fact that you are willing to do what's necessary to maintain
the integrity of the group.

Keep up the good work.
