EAM Lot #02CC2004M

EAM Lot #02CC2004M

2002-10-04 by Gary Benson

Just as another point of reference: I purchased a box of 02CC2004M EAM from
CompUSA a couple days ago. Brought it home and compared it to my existing
supply of EAM (02BB1014M) and I could see no difference between the two sets
of paper. I've asked several other people to examine the papers,
specifically with respect to whether one looks more yellow than another, and
no one could see a difference. This leads me to believe that not all papers
in the 02CC2004M lot are affected. Also, it seems like one of the Epson
reps implied or stated that there hasn't been an intentional change in EAM's
manufacturing specs (which is good news). Could an environmental factor
related to improper storage of the paper somewhere along the chain of
distribution from manufacture to retail point of sale cause the paper to
yellow?

Gary, the box I had you could only see the difference in subdued
light. If you looked at it near a bright window you could not see any
diff. but in sibdued light you could really see a diff.

Gary,

Do you have some test strips or photos that would show whether the new EAM
you purchased has the same depth of black?

In my comparison, the new white was just 0.01 darker -- not a real obvious
problem. On the other hand, we worry about the depth of black so much that
the 1.60 of the new paper was a big disappointment next to the 1.68 of the
last lot of EAM I had. (These numbers are for the 3000 and Epson driver.
The smaller desktops have slightly lighter blacks; the 7000 has an even
weaker black. The Piezo driver also has a significantly weaker black with
desktop printers than does the Epson driver.)
