Is Epson Heavyweight Matte paper just a thinner version of Archival Matte paper?

Is Epson Heavyweight Matte paper a thinner version (with the same rag content/pulp structure) of the Archival matte paper or a different formulation? If so, why do people here like using Epson Heavyweight Matte paper (thinner, proofing purposes)???
