Digital BW, The Print

Well I finally got a 1280 and got it up and running with MIS VM hextone 
ink. I printed a test print on EAM and quickly decided I am not a big 
fan of mat paper. This there a vast difference in the depth of photo 
rag? Are there any good semi-gloss or gloss paper out for B&W printing.

I must say that while I am not a fan of mat paper, this photograph did 
turn out very nice. It was dead on neutral with nice highlight 
separation and density.

Regrettfully, if you want semi-gloss or gloss paper, pigmented gray
inks is not the best choice.  Some papers print OK, but you have to
coat them so the ink does not rub off.  Coating introduces a host of
challenges.  If printing on RC papers is a must for you, you should
strongly consider an alternative inkset - perhaps the Lyson Small
Gamut.  Lyson also makes an inkset in a variety of tones, but the name
escapes me know.
