Self Assigned photo challenge...how to solve?

I have a mask that I would like to render in the full (or 1/2) round panoramic format like archeologists would do in a drawing. Started to think about how this would be done and thought about putting it to the group as well. The initial attempt to use a Canon G2 in stitch assist mode has the problem of TOO MUCH overlap from image to image, hence, not allowing it to stitch. This was attempted with object stationary and camera moved AND camera stationary with the object rotated on a stool. POSSIBLY a combination of object rotation and camera movement would work...the difficulty comes in maintaining an even arc with the camera so that persepective doesn't become a compounding problem. <could tape the the floor off in a 3-point basketball arc?> A second attempt would be to take a number of incremental shots from a single vantage point and blend them as layers in photoshops. The occassional 'perspective' would be needed to correct for the rotation of the mask. It's the blend setting I can't figure out at this point on that version. On another subject I was successfull keeping layers at normal/100% and erasing to reveal layers below. That's the likely path at this point. Ideas? Sincerely, Cleavis
