Re: [Digital BW] Re: Ultrachrome carts for 7600, 9600

2002-11-26 by daschkenas@aol.com

I just ordered a 7600 and asked the dealer where I ordered the printer if I could use the larger 220ml carts meant for the 9600 in it. He said that I couldn't. I just came accross a post on inkjetart website, with FAQ, that states you CAN use either the 110ml or the 220ml carts on the 7600 nad in fact the printer will know that the larger cart is being used and monitor the consumption accordingly. They say Epson doesn't reccommend this because they feel that the machine,7600, is unbalanced with the larger carts, if not used on the Epson stand, and could fall over and hurt someone.
I'd love to use the larger carts for the savings.
Have any 7600 users used the 220ml carts?
Thanks
David Aschkenas

You mean the weight of 24 ounces of ink could tip over a hundred pound
printer? :) Really?

Jerry,

Epsons technician explained it as - if the printer 7600 stay without
stand near the edge of table somebody may:

1. poke in hardly to quite long carts,

2. use carts as backplate for his/her hand,

Try to multiply weight of your body by length of lever of carts - it
is not so big nonsence.

Particular in a country where on microwave must be writen "Don't dry
your pets inside!" - joke

They have it mounted on a rollerblade (unless you buy the accessory
stand)...

Yes, the 220ml carts will absolutely work in the 7600. And they
are supported.

Search archives of 9000 list for more information. It's there.

I will be changing to the 220ml carts just as soon as the 110s I have
currently run out (a couple of sets). I think there will be little issue.

There is a firmware upgrade. Make sure to download this along
with the Service Utility. This firmware upgrade deals with that
early tendency to leave too much good inks in the carts.

http://prographics.epson.com

It does not apply to the INITIAL fill with new printers; only
subsequent inkloads after the first one.

Martin, I suppose there is somebody, somewhere that would lean on the
cartridges and knock the printer over. I'm sure it has happened and
that's why epson doesn't recommend it. I once got an iron whose
directions clearly stated: Do not iron clothes while wearing them! (Not
a joke).
