November print exchange results and thoughts
2002-12-05 by André Vallejo
Just received the november print package. Very instructive... Some of the prints really made hold my breath. David Gabbe,Alan Sanders,Andy Biggs,Gerald Campbell and Gary Benson sent the prints that really amazed me...beside the photographs themselves, the print quality were truly everything one can expect from a BW print. No silver print could be better. Equal, but not better. Some thoughts: All these I outlined were made with medium or large format (let's take Hassy XPan as medium,ok?) ...humm,that really means something... Jon Cones ink and software did as good as MIS with Epson driver. All perfect. No problems that can be blame on them.Looks like this Selenium inkset from Cone's is the way to go for those who can pay the price and does not wanna bother with setting up curves and details, and MIS for the rest of us... But wait! Andy Biggs one was printed with an 2200 with Matte Black and the original inkset, and it looks perfectly neutral to me! What that means??? About papers,Photorag and EAM looks the best, and I can\ufffdt (almost) tell them apart, behind the plastic sheet. Very good experience...really worth! Thanks Tom for the oportunity!
