There was a movie where this guy was heralded as being a genius, but was
really sort of a not really with it dolt...he would say things like "plants
need water", really meaning that the plants were dry, and needed to be
watered...but others took it as some deep, philosophical statement...  What
was that movie?

"Being There", with Peter Sellers as the gardener.  Great movie, and
one of his last before he died.
