another clog -- and how i solved it --
2002-12-11 by Ricardo Lagos
I had not printed anything on my 1270 with CFS anv MIS VM inks for about 4 months (maybe longer) .. and finally got around to doing some prints today -- of course the black was rather clogged .. so i removed the black cartridge and though that i could use the syringe method to flow some ink through the cart (hoping the head was not clogged on the printer) -- when i went to suck some ink out the cart the vacuum would not let me get ink out -- it would suck it back in -- something was solidly stuck within the cart or the hose to the ink bottle .. .. so thinking that the cart would have to thrown away anyways i decided to pump it a few times to see if i could dislodge the solid piece .. after a few tries and not getting anywhere i decided to pump ink into the cart through the outlet ... i filled the syringe from the ink bottle and pushed hard -- suddenly the ink went in -- the clog was cleared and i could feed ink through the outlet, and back out -- replaced the cart onto the printer -- did a heach check -- almost perfect -- clean cycle -- pattern check -- full 100% pattern .. i guess i got lucky and the head on the printer was not clogged -- ricardo [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
