Digital BW, The Print

Hello everyone,

To jump into archival B&W printing, I'm going the Epson 1280 route 
starting with the MIS inks.  As I just got the printer, but haven't 
received the inks yet, is there any reason to run the included Epson 
inks through first?  Would I need to flush the printer if I did?  If 
so, would I need to use a flushing kit?

Last year I bought on eBay an epson 1280 printer. From the first I 
have had clogged nozzles and still have one or two which will not 
clear. I have changed to Black Only printing and solved the problem. 
Still there may be someday I would like to print a color image or 
two. I have a Canon s750 that I currently use for my working printer 
and it does do adequate color. Let me hear some opinions on the 
practicality on purchasing a new Epson 1280 in case Epson stops 
production of them. The printer I bought on eBay came from a photo 
shop in Charleston, SC, which is near me and they used it daily for 
their printing purposes; mostly photographs. I don't know if the 
goody has been gotten out of this printer or not. I would hate to 
pass up a new printer hoping this one would last much longer. Some 
advice from members of this group would help me make a decision. My 
photographs are very important to me and this printer is the primary 
link in my working with them.
