Images coming out too black with VM and Roark curves on 1160

All of a sudden my image density increased. To trouble shoot I printed a step wedge which looks alright and then the image I am having a problem with. Upon scanning the two together the density in the step wedge looks ok but the image is much too dense. Is there some sensitivity to the particular image?
