2003-01-14 by diana jeon
Thank you Martin for okaying this posting.... The Digital Art Society of Hawaii (DASH) seeks entries for the first ever Statewide juried exhibition of Digital Art. DASH believes that digital technology has irrevocably changed art-making practices and opened opportunities for research and experimentation in the art disciplines. Our aim for Digitally Charged Entities is to bring together artists residing in Hawaii that are using digital media in an exhibition of the best, most eclectic and visually interesting work. We seek submissions that will challenge viewers to question the current status quo of digital media and its impact as an art-making tool as well as provoke dialogue about digital vs. traditional media. Jurors for this exhibition are: Peter Chamberlain, MFA, Professor of Art, University of Hawaii at Manoa; Victoria Gail-White, BFA, Practicing Textile/Paper Artist and Art Reviewer for the Honolulu Advertiser Newspaper; Sarah E. Bremser McCormick, MA Contemporary Art History, Independent Curator and Professor of Art History at the University of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College. Entrants must be age 18 or over and reside in the state of HI. Eligible work includes any original 2-d or sculptural artwork created using digital media, whether from inception, digital photography or from components (such as digital video stills or scanned images that have been composited and/or manipulated digitally), digital design or digital illustration prints, digital transfer prints, hand-pulled prints that have the origin of their images in digital processes, or 3-D work that has been created using digital media. Mixed media artwork is allowed, as long as the primary component of the work was digitally-created. Digital reproductions of work created in traditional media will not be considered. All work must have been completed within the past 2 years, and may not have been previously exhibited in a juried exhibition within the State of Hawaii.
