Tony, I don't use the piezo plug in, just epsons, and the blacks are
excellent with Gen 4 inks.

Jerry,

Are you using an RGB partitioned workflow? What paper settings are you using
in the Epson driver? I used the Randall curves on my 1160 and my DMax was still
at about 1.55 so I don't think for me it is an issue of the Piezo driver being
conservative with its ink for the black. Are you filling your own carts or
using a CIS? I'm curently testing with the empty MIS carts which I'm filling
myself - I'm not sure if that is where the problem might lie.

Morning Tony,

I'm not sure what you mean by a "partitioned? workflow.  

Epson Driver settings, are: 

Color settings, 	auto
Magenta:		+7
Contrast:		+5
Perceptual intent
EAM, EEM, Legion's Photo matte, or Eclipse Papers, Bright White, Satine
Paul Roarks Neutral Cool curve (I usually use this one)
RGB file
Photo Shop Color settings:	Adobe RGB
In Print Dialogue Box: 	"Same as Source"
Heavyweight Matte Media Setting
Generations 4 Black
MIS VM inks for the other 5 positions.

I get pretty good blacks with this setup. On Hahnemuhle papers, the
blacks are superb, but that paper is too pricey for me, and also way too
warm. 

I'm using a CIS System from InkjetGoodies.
