Trouble is it is limiting. The Epson driver compresses the detail in the last 10 percent so if you want detail in the 100-99-98 etc range you need a softproof other wise the driver converts your screen version into a compressed tonal space. Try downloading Tyler's 1% step wedge and printing it and seeing/measuring the 1% difference - the acid test of a workflow. Also setting your files for only one paper/ink/printer combo means they are useless if you want to outsource the printing, change inks, try different/new paper or when you move to a new printer or other system - you really are stuck with what you do now. I'm still printing files that have gone through 4 printing workflows. The ideal is to work in the Adobe 98 colour space - which is a standard format - and then move via softproof to the printing output. I strongly advise you hitting the tutorials at IJM.
