Has anyone tried this new Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw plug in yet? If it's the one I saw demonstrated a couple of weeks ago at the DIP Digital Conference in Atlanta, it's well worth the $99.00 cost. You can down load it off Adobe's web site. Steve

Is there an upgrade to Camera Raw that will allow it to be used with Canon's D-10? Steve

"Read the following first and make sure you KNOW exactly what you are doing,
OK? If you have any questions you should not do it! And don't ask for a
patched file - that would be a violation of the lisence.
- Stop PS 7
- Make a copy of the file "Camera Raw.8bi" in the same directory.
- Call it "Camera Raw-10D.8bi"
- Find this string:
"Canon EOS D30 Canon EOS D60"
- Patch it with a safe binary hex-editor to read:
"Canon EOS D30 Canon EOS 10D"
- Save the patched and renamed file
- Open PS 7 again
- and - voila - both file types opens... ! Simultaneously!
I guess two copies of "Camera RAW " end up in memory, but it actually works
:)
Anyone else with the same result? "

Steven,
I followed the advice at this URL:
http://www.rogercavanagh.com/helpinfo/20_acrpatchmac.htm
And created a patched version of the plug-in. It really is a very simple
procedure and works like a champ.
I have read some admonitions that since the plug-in uses the D60 profiles
you may not be getting accurate color, but I really can¹t imagine how it
could be much different.
I really like the capabilities of Camera Raw and get quite a bit of
additional control in my workflow.
I was finding that the 10D has a tendency to underexpose by about 1/2 a stop
in matrix mode. While I am trying to deal with this with more careful
metering and getting to know the camera, when a dark exposure slips through
it is easily adjusted for while still in the Raw state.
I have been experimenting with this workflow:
- Capture in RAW
- Open in Camera RAW
adjust color temp
adjust exposure, shadow, highlight and minimal contrast adjustment
Open in Photoshop as 16 bit
- Image/Adjust/Channel Mixer
Roughly 30% Red, 60% Green, 10% Blue
- Image/Mode/Greyscale
If any relatively major, overall, curve adjustments still need to be
made I will do them while still in 16 bit
- Image/Mode/8 bit
- All further adjustments made in adjustment layers
I haven¹t been able to compare the results of this process to my other
former methods of handling digital camera workflow but it seems pretty
capable of maintaining image integrity throughout the process.

Hi The patch works fine, I did it for someone a while ago and although it is perhaps not optimised for the 10D it works... Should be part of PS8 in the not to distant future :-)) bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397

You merely change "d60" to "10d" and it works. You can Email me for the link or Google it. Claude [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Is there a free patch available that would allow me to use RAW format from my Nikon D100 with PS 7? Thanks, Ed http://lightandsilver.com
