Paper database

Hey Antonis,

I got your database. Awesome! What a difference using Filemaker makes.

One quick question (or two): what is your Piezo Grade based on, and what
does Group ID refer to? What is the best way to sort to see what are the
same papers but with different names?

Oh jeez, I see I just answered my own question. Group ID groups the
different names of the same paper together so you can compare price! Wow, so
look at this: Royal Riviera, Torchon, and Lyson Soft Fine Art, are all the
same paper, and at letter size they range in price form $1.07 - 2.45! Oh
Baby, very cool.

Great job.

Hi Todd,

glad you found your way to the juicy stuff in the db! Nothing like seing it in
Filemaker. Now you know why I have been berating the name-changing
game that Hahnemuhle imposed in this market.

Some notes:

- Piezo Grade is my own, biased opinion, based mostly on dMax, but also on
overall look.
- Cost factor is nothing that "heavy": It takes into account the gsm of the paper
and the cheapest price for the letter sheet. Only as a quick way to sort papers
of same weight, or even same paper, different prices.
- Most prices are now a few months old.

Enjoy!

Hey Antonis,

I apologize for "going public" but hope that'll be a non-starter. I
emailed you the inkjet database in Acrobat PDF format, but received a
mailer daemon error message saying it could not be delivered. Not one
to take such authority at face value, did you receive it??

I replied off-list to report that-- but here, too. Let me know what
else I should try, if anything.

Antonis,

Would it be possible to get your paper db in pdf format. I do have
acrobat reader? I'm new to this so if what I ask can't be done chalk
it up to stupidity? Thanks.

Re: Paper database

Tim, (and others who have asked)

a pdf version is in the works. Bear in mind that not only is that not searchable /
sortable as it would be in a db program, but it can only be one layout or "view"
of the data. Nevertheless, I now realize, it's better than nothing, and probably
better than an html "export" of the records.

I'll let everyone know when that happens (some tweaking will be necessary).

Thanks for your interest.

Antonis

It is possible to create forms in a PDF. It's beyond me at this
point, both in learning curvature and time, but might be something to
think about. Maybe someone has the knack? I distilled the first one
for Antonis, here at creekside stills inc., but I'm not even
qualified as a hacker, just an operator of PDF stuff.
