Digital BW, The Print

I have two questions regarding the Epson Velvet Fine Art paper on the 
2200.

1. Aesthetically, how does the paper compare to Enhanced Matt?
2. Will my Greybalancer settings from Enhanced Matt work with Velvet?

By the good graces of Epson, I received a free sample of their Velvet 
Fine Art paper for a tryout on my 2200. In printing a b&w image with 
Matt Black ink, I was somewhat surprised that the results seemed so 
flat and dull - especially in comparison to the Enhanced Matt paper 
which seemed to offer so much more depth and density.

I know that Velvet Fine Art is very popular with 2200 users. Am I 
missing something, or can someone explain the appeal to me?
