Piezography Printing Classes

2003-03-13 by architectura1

Hello,

I'm new to Piezography (been using MIS Hextone Inks for about 6
months), and wanted to know if anyone's taking courses offered by
either the Cone Group, Westcoast Imaging's Photoclass, or George
Dewolfe's course. Of course my goal is to get the most out of the
system, and best prints possible.

I'm particularly interested in Dewolfe's CD tutorial because I don't
have the $1,000 plus travel and accomodations to spend :(.

Thanks in advance,

Terrance

Terrance-

Don't know where you live, so can't tell if this tip will save your
travel money, but I'm going to a one day Piezo/BW printing workshop
tomorrow at Color Folio in Northern Califonia (about one hour north
of San Francisco if you drive fast).

Bob Cornelius runs it...limited to 4 people, 8 hours (one or two day)
and $250 per day...comes highly reccomended. www.colorfolio.com

cheers,

tom o'connell

Tom,

I'd be interested to hear what you thought of the workshop. $250 is
not a bad price for an all day class. Color Floio looks like it's a
first rate company. Sonoma County is beautiful this time year too.

Thanks for all those who replied. Sorry, but I should have been
more specific about where I live...I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I
wouldn't mind driving down to Seattle for a weekend, but that's as
far as I'd want to go right now.

Unfortunately no one's had any experience with George DeWolfe's cd
tutorial.

Regards,

Terrance

tom-

I think it's a pretty good value. 8 hours...small class (mine was
only 3).

Bob is a real expert. and you can bring your toughest print and get
his advice on how to improve it. He really knew his stuff.

For me the negative was that it was MAC based (I can use one but not
really comfortable with them). I'm pretty set in my ways and this
workshop challenged me to rethink some of my workflow...It's always a
delight to see some successfull workflow first hand...and see some of
the epuipment first hand...Epson 7000, 96000, Roland are the main
ones.

There is no silver bullet, but Bob gives you a class book and cd with
some actions and scripts on it. I think it would be especially good
for new comers to Photoshop and Piezo printing since they won't have
to relearn a workflow; if they like his, that's what they should work
on.

I think some other in this forum have taken it and they might chime
in with their thoghts, too.

cheers,

tom

Would love to have more specifics on location of the classes. I
live in Winters, Ca so it should be fairly close by. How about an
email address for the class?
