rips for 7600

rips for 7600

2003-03-19 by kstone100291

I own a custom black & white {wet} lab and am now setting up a
digital darkroom. I have two printers, a epson 3000 which I will
dedicate exclusively to black and white using the piezography bw or
MIS, and a epson 7600 which I will use both for color and black and
white printing. Which rip should I get for the 7600? I've heard the
imageprint is great when it works right but can have a lot of
glitches and cause endless hours of frustration. Of course Ilford
wants me to use there Onyx based rip and epson thinks thiers is great
too. I should also state that I am new to digital printing and will
be learning as I go.

Good Question. I had posted a question on iProof's - PowerRip 2000 and did
not receive any answers. I heard it's a good rip at a much lower cost than
IP. I hope to hear some comments.

I am very happy with ImagePrint. The current Mac OSX version works
well. I consider is "essential" to print B&W on the 7600 but, as I see
that you have a 3000 for B&W, I think you ought to try the Bill
Atkinson color profiles which you can download free from his website.
They are excellent. (I find the ImagePrint color profiles slightly
better, particularly in terms of better shadow detail.)
