I'm not that good in imperial sizes :-) but if they cut one 36"
roll in two 17" rolls there will be very little lost.
I've sold the 3000 to my brother for CAD printing and he used a
bandsaw to do the something similar on a 36" roll.

But can you get 17" through a 3000?  I thought it was slightly
less. A 44" roll can be cut into three 14,4" rolls.
