MIS Eboni black - first impressions
2003-03-26 by Tom
Howdy All! I'm glad Jerry managed to rule the inks out of his issues. Because I finally got to play with my new Eboni black ink and wanted to throw in a very positive first response! I have been using either the MIS VM or FSN-E hex sets in handfilled carts in my 2000P, but with the Epson black... The epson black seemed stronger to me than the MIS. But my stepwedges were never perfect, I just got used to having very little separation in my 95-100 areas. not anymore!!! with the new black, I can see a much bigger difference in the shadows! My few test images are visibly crisper than with the Epson black. The only thing I miss is the little sparkles in the Epson black. Especially on the PR paper, the blacks had this 'crushed diamond' look that is absent in the eboni black... as it seemed like a side affect, I guess I'll get along without it. but can someone explain what was causing that? sorry, I have no tangible data to offer... just a pleased me!
