large prints

I have some old 8x10 prints and some 35 mm slides I would like to make wall art from. I was considering buying the new Canon scanner available in 2-3 weeks and the 24" Epson printer. Images would be improved in Photoshop. I want b/w inks that don't fade much. Ideas on how to accomplish this or where to look for info? Thanks in advance. Larry Vaughn
