Digital BW, The Print

Iwas getting ready to order some more ink for my Epson 2200 and 
noticed the option of 3rd party inks.  Has anyone tried these?  Are 
the characteristics the same, better, worse?

Depends on which 3rd party you are talking about. The general opinion
seems to be that no ink can quite match original Epson Ultrachrome inks
100%. I currently have a full set of color inks from MIS on order
myself, and I'd be happy to give you my opinion when I've had a chance
to test them. I figure that even if the quality doesn't match the Epsons
at least I'll have a cheap alternative for less critical high-volume
work. When using 4oz bottles of ink and refilling myself I've calculated
the cost to around 1/8-1/10 of the price of an original cartridge
(assuming norwegian cartridge prices, which are $20-25 for a single
cartridge).
