1160 On Mac

1160 On Mac

2001-09-26 by lon_c@hotmail.com

I have no experience with a Mac. I have a friend with a Mac that also
has very little experience. We are trying to get an Epson 1160
printer working on his system. He has a 1270 that works fine on the
Mac.

It is a G4 with 9.X.X operating system. After the 1160 driver
installs there is no USB port attached to the printer (there is on the
1270). This was determined by looking at the chooser. The USB cable
is good, and we have tried various USB ports.

We have uninstalled the 1160 driver and reinstalled it several times.

We need some very basic help. Any would be greatly appreciated.

Enjoy! Lon

Hi,
Do you have the latest 1160 driver and update? You can find them here:

ml>

You have to install the 1160 specific driver first

ftp.epson.com/drivers/MSC116063AE.SEA.hqx

Then install the generic stylus updater:

ftp.epson.com/macupdater/MAC_STYLUS_UPDATE_10CES.SEA.hqx

Restart your computer. From then you should see all options in the
chooser. Note: the printer has to be turned on to see the USB port in
the chooser.
I did all this yesterday with my new 1160 and everything worked
immediately. I allready had a 1200 working so the setup is very
similar.

On a very basic level: make sure the printer is switched on and the green
light is steady (not blinking). Go back into the Chooser, highlight or
double-click the 1160 icon, then close the Chooser window. Try the printer
again. I'm not at the computer to which my 1160 is connected, but I
remember that the printer/USB combination is picky about having itself
selected in the Chooser before it realizes it's actually connected.

Good luck,
