You will get some Metamerism from the MIS inks when printing on glossy surface papers. I print on Epson Glossy paper and then spray the paper with a varnish - this seems to eliminate the metamerism effect.

Subject: [Digital BW] MIS B&W inks on non-matte paper?

I have an epson 1280 and 2200 and like the way the 2200 prints B&W's
on matte papers but still have occasions where I need to print B&W's
on semi-gloss paper (prefereably ilford smooth pearl).

I was thinking of setting up the 1280 with a CIS from MIS. Has
anyone printed neutral black and white's on non-matte papers?
  Advice?

  Thanks,

  Marc

There are several that have been discussed in this group. I have been successfully using a product from HomeDepot called Varathane Gloss Spray. It has a UV protection level and applies easily. It will look like a semi-gloss when applied to resin coated papers - at least in my experience.

do you know of any varnish or gloss spray that can be applied
to make a Matte print look less "flat"?
