Re: [Digital BW] Digest Number 1570

Hello Manuel, I made this move about 14 months ago and have absolutely no regrets. I thought I would continue to use my 35mm as a "point and shoot" but it has not seen the light of day since I started using the MF. I intentionally chose a square format as it would force me to re think image selection - but that was my choice. As I shoot landscapes and cityscapes and want to maximize the clarity and sharpness in the negative I always use a tripod. I use a Nikon 8000ED scanner which delivers excellent clarity - but you really need to use the negative holder with the Newton Glass to ensure constant focus across the negative during the scan. I have 2 1280s - one using Epson inks for color and the other converted to PietzoTone inks for B&W. Excellent performance from both (as he touches his head and gets splinters!). I have attempted to scan some 35mm negs - but there is no contest. Of course I would like to get the same response times in Photoshop with the 6x6 scans but the files are 450mb! Agreed if you move to 4x5 format you will be able to develop each image according to the exposure - but with MF you can dedicate different film backs to N, N-1, N+! etc. Good Luck Richard www.richardkingphoto.com
