QXP may be printing the preview versions, or the printer may be doing so, since printing pure Illustrator/EPS illustrations requires a PostScript printer. > Would such an issue be corrected by using a RIP? Probably. You need something in the chain that can understand PostScript and generate bitmapped raster images for the printer (which does not understand PostScript). QXP won't do that. One thing you can try, if you have Acrobat, is just to print to Acrobat Distiller, then distill the file and print the resulting PDF. Acrobat contains a PostScript interpreter and will convert all the EPS and vector graphics to bitmaps for printers that require bitmaps. Usually it does a superb job of this. Remember to leave images in RGB if you are printing to a printer that requires it, too.
