Whatever happened to Ultrasmooth?

Chris,

I have a 24 inch roll and I am writing curves for the MIS Ultra Tone (UT)
inkset and Epson UltraSmooth (EUS ?) paper. I've done the 7500 already, and
those basic curves are ready. The 1160 is ready. The 1280 is sitting on
the floor waiting its turn.

EUS is my current choice for a cotton, acid-free, buffered,
non-optical-brightened, non-flaking, archival paper. This will be the paper
I'll use for all prints that are sold and where I want maximum long-term
storage life.

(Deadlines were made to be broken, weren't they?)

Thanks, Paul. Once I finish out my VM inkset, I'll be going with UT --
and am hoping that EUS will be out by then. So far, with respect to
clogging, the Eboni black has been performing reasonably well,
although, as others have pointed out, not letting the printer sit
idle does seem to be more critical.

Chris

Paul, how is the dmax compared to EEM with the Eboni black?

I'm seeing 1.64 with UltraSmooth, the 1160, and MIS UT/Eboni K. EEM comes
in at 1.65.

The UltraSmooth non-brightened coating is a smooth, creamy tone that matches
my Light Impressions Exeter Gallery White mount board very nicely. (I never
liked EEM white borders with the Exeter board -- too cold/blue.) So, I'll
now be able to mount with a 1/4 inch borders for signing. I'm very pleased
with the tone.

I have not yet used the roll, and I'm assuming the 11x14 beta is the same
stuff. I'll find out soon.
