Square images on the monitor...

I never found any info about it, nor anybody else complained about that, but... When you make a square test image in the PS, make it "fit on screen" and measure the dimensions off the screen. Is the image square? On every CTR monitor any resolution you chose in the driver will fit the screen, no matter if it's in the screen proportions or not. I like the resolution of 1280x1024 on my LaCie 19" electron blue IV. To have the square images appear square on the screen I had to adjust the horizontal dimension of the display resulting with about half an inch black strips on both sides of the display. I had the same thing (with the same resolution) on the 17" Dell before. It is annoying at the first moment, but it's great to have the image looking the same if it's horizontal or vertical on the screen. Flat panels work a bit different since the pixels are imposed by the hardware, so all the screens show the square images square.
