1280 Flashing Lights

1280 Flashing Lights

2003-07-03 by Thomas Keesling

My trusty 1280 with CIS quit printing this morning. It had completed one
print. However, before loading the sheet for the second print in the queue,
the Maintenance Light and Power Light began flashing alternately. I got a
message telling me to clear the paper path and turn the printer off, but the
paper path is clear. I've tried turning the printer off and back on several
times and tried to print a test print without success.

The manual doesn't describe this flashing lights combination. Is the printer
telling me the waste ink pad is full or what?

Yep, this is the full waste pad sign, alternate blinking. If you
haven't reset before you should be OK for one more run before
changing the pads. There is a detailed reset workflow listed on the
Epson users group, search for 'blinking lights' and you should find
it straight away, I just reset mine last week.

Kind regards

Steve.

1280 Flashing Lights

Thanks, Steve and Martin.

I've got my 1280 reset and printing again. I don't expect to have a problem
with the waste ink overflowing since I've been using the VM inkset for quite
a while and seldom have to run cleaning cycles. But I put a piece of bubble
wrap and a towel under the printer to protect the desktop just in case.

Tom and Martin,

My Epson 1290 is like a street light too, but none of these methods,
nor others is working for me. I tried the Epson 1290 fix on Mwords
site but although I kept the two buttons depressed for two minutes I
never got continuous lights.

Can anyone tell me what worked for them or suggest (other) fixes
please?

Colin
