Minitor Calibration - which white balance?

Minitor Calibration - which white balance?

2003-09-03 by shrektd

I searched the Group (and the web) but I could not find a clear
answer...

What is the preferred white balance to set the monitor to: 5000K or
6500K?
And the Gamma? 1.8 or 2.2?

I have Colorblind Prove It and they suggest 5000K 1.8 gamma.

Thanks,
Luca

The majority of the color management geeks have suggested 6500K and 2.2 Gamma
is the way to go.

That's what I use and have excellent match of screen and inkjet print.

I've read and prefer 6500 and 2.2 (on my Mac).

I also have ColorBlind Prove It and never seen a preference for
5000K 1.8 gamma in their manual. I'm using 6500K and 2.2 on the
CRT monitor and 5400K lamps for the film and print control.
That's what quite a few colour management gurus advise as a good
setup.
