Paul,

I guess I missed something here although I have read every post on
this group for the past year.

I am using the UT inkset on an 1160 with your three curves which I
downloaded from MIS about two weeks ago. These are ut11-w1, ut11-wn1,
and ut11-n1. This setup is producing excellent prints with much
better tonal transitions than the VM setup.

How do the above curves relate to the curves listed in your recent
post below? Are they for the same BW UT inkset?

"The new curves produce 4 very useful tones. The "UT11-N1" is
neutral, similar to a
"selenium" tone; "UT11-MW-3" is 0.03 units warm, similar to PiezoTone WN & FS;
UT11-C+3 is 0.03 units cool, about like the old "nc" curve with the vm inkset;
and UT11-W1 is 0.10 units warm, about twice as warm as the old vm inkset or
the original MIS quads. "

The curves are about the same. The main addition is the cool curve,
UT11-C+3.  The inkset is unchanged.

One thing I've done is add a number to indicate how my X-Rite
spectrophotometer (densitometer) reads the coolness or warmth. So, for
example, the "C+3" means that the print with the UT inkset on EAM/EEM will
produce a print that has a midtone reading with the cyan 0.03 units more
than the yellow reading.

The old "wn1" curve is essentially the same as the "MW-3." This curve
produces an EEM print with a midtone reading with cyan 0.03 units less than
the yellow reading.

I'm trying to give more accuracy to the labels. I have made some curves
that I use that have different degrees of coolness or warmth, and this is a
more precise way for me to keep track of the curves/tones.

Paul,

Thanks for the explanation of the newer UT curves.

I just downloaded the curves from the group file folder and unzipped
them without any problem.

Thanks,
Bill
