new coated fiber paper

new coated fiber paper

2003-07-15 by sandersm@aol.com

There was some talk on the list, a number of weeks back during our discussion
of the Ilford Galerie papers, of a new coated fiber paper that might offer a
new alternative for people printing on the 2200, and a list member mentioned
that he was testing the papers in advance of its release, then expected later
in the summer. It is getting toward "later in the summer," and I am wondering
whether anyone on the list can shed any more light on the paper (I've
forgotten the manufacturer and brand name), its performance and release date.

Sanders McNew.

It was me and the paper is made by Oriental of Oriental Seagull fame,
but its still in beta at this point. The paper is promising, identical
paper stock to their fiber-based silver paper and similar
surface/gloss, but I'm not at liberty to say more before the final
paper is released.

There is also a new Epson smooth paper in the works that is overdue
but the latest is that it is scheduled for the end of july (probably
another PPA announcement...pixel picasso will be rolled out at PPA).

Digital Art Supplies will have it when it is available and they have
a mailing list now that updates you on the delay every 2 weeks <g>.

Have you tried this one, too, Robert???

Re: [Digital BW] new coated fiber paper

2003-07-16 by Robert Morrison

Is this a gloss paper or just another matte paper? The Oriental paper
is a gloss fiber-based paper...hopefully getting the dmax of gloss
papers without the bronzing or the the RC base...our best hope for an
easily produced air-dried silver print look.
