Just for educational purposes (they are too expensive) try to look at this:
http://www.gardco.com/rods.html ( this page is taken off the frames -
the name
of the site is www.gardco.com). Explanation with the pictures and an
ordering
guide with the size-of-the-wire/coat-thickness relationship.

Any more questions, just ask.
Jack

This and Paul's description explains it very well, and I thank you. I'm
sorry if some people feel it's laziness that keeps all people from
looking through the archives - that's just not true. People must
realize that we all have lives outside of this list, and many have
s-l-o-w internet connections. And some people just don't have as much
time to spend on the internet and computer-related items (or do I dare
say "recreation") as others do. If certain questions keep coming up,
then having prepared answers like Paul and Jack sent here might require
far less time and effort for them than someone else searching through
the archives at 28K might spend. I know a lot about "certain" aspects
of photography, baseball, space planning, and maybe a few other things.
Certainly, the answers to all questions about those subjects are
probably out there on the net somewhere, but I wouldn't get upset if
someone asked me an easy question about one of those things that I knew
they could eventually find an answer to by searching the web. Instead,
I would simply take a second to answer it (like Paul and Jack did here).

This group continues to be a great source of information about a subject
I need to learn a lot more about. Thank you all. I'll try to give back
whenever I can.

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
Agree with your comments. All groups need their rules police to
keep the rest of us slobs in line. I personally enjoy having a
topic as interesting as coating revisited on a regular basis in
hopes of learning something new. This time I copied Paul's
description so when I start to coat I won't have to bother the list
with "needless questions".

thought - one of the nice aspects of this group is the time most people will take out of their day to help novices in the digital process to learn. These are people that are well respected and have contributed to the field i.e., Paul Rourk, and many others. It reminds me of teaching if a student asks a question, maybe one that has been asked before, and is put down or humiliated for asking then why ask? I don't believe people like to have their lack of knowledge or skill rubbed in their face, at least I don't. The idea is to share and learn.

Exactly, we all have lives outside of the list...think about that
statement. The research that many of us do that goes into these posts
requires hundreds of hours of testing. We share it freely...but we
need not to be abused. Everybody needs to do their part. I might
suggest that if you want to find out about something try going to the
public library and use their computers they have T1 lines. In the old
days we all had to go to the library if we wanted to learn.

The answers are in the archives...I told people were to look...in the
total realm of information about digital printing that's a pretty
constrained search space. I wasn't suggesting to google your brains
out. Many of us on the list have answered the same questions literally
hundreds of times over the past year. Any idea how long that takes
us?...a lot longer than one or two searches through the archives on a
28K modem.

I don't mean to be tasty about this...but we all need to act
responsibly.

Robert
