How to fix a 'total clog' on a 1520?

2003-08-03 by markroth61

I have only run 2 ink cartridge cycles through this printer, it is
nearly new (even though it's old technology, but still gives 3000-
quality prints since it uses the same heads), and it now has a total
clog on the black head. Not one speck of black ink is coming out. It
almost seems like there is a broken wire somewhere rather than a
clog, although it went from a broken nozzle pattern to 'no nozzle
pattern' after refilling 3 days ago. I've tried *everything* short of
removing the head (windex from every angle, overnight w/windex on the
parking pad, towel back and forth, cleaning carts, repeated cleaning
cycles, reinstalling the driver...everything short of dropping
the frigging thing off the roof, although that might be next). I've
read Arthur Entlich's online manual. I've read nearly every post and
suggestion on this board's archives, on the Epson board, and on the
internet.

This thing will not unclog. Has anyone else had a total clog and
figured it out? The solution would be greatly appreciated...I've got
a couple real nice prints out of this thing using UT inks, and would
hate to just throw it away. Mark
