anyone using imageprint 5.6 RIP from Colorbyte to print B&W on the
Epson2200? is this the "easiest" way to get great looking tonal
range without the magenta cast??

i use 5.6 with the 2200. it's definitely been the easiest for me; also
giving me the best results i've had so far.

There is almost no tonal range with Imageprint if you run it with
grayscale files. It will dance around neutral however, and give you
prints without crossover. If you want real tonal range with a 2200 I
would consider giving Inkjetcontrol/Open Printmaker a try with the
2200. You can go from Sepia to nearly blue with very little
metamerism. Otherwise you will need to convert your grayscale files to
RGB and tone them in photoshop and then print them as RGB files with
Imageprint and hope for the best.

Certainly not the cheapest. There are two free softwares,
OPM/IJC and QuadToneRIP, which supposedly do great B&W on the
2200. I don't think either works on Windows though. Search
list archives for details.

Hello, I am using Imageprint with a 2200 printer to print both B&W and color.
This combination is by far as easy to use as anything else. There is no color
cast with the B&W prints and if you use the matt black ink instead of the
photo black you can get outstanding results. Imageprint is an amazing tool. If
you need further info please feel free to contact me. Steve

Steve,
After I wrote to you the last time, I realized that you said that you had a 2200 printer. Thanks for the information. It is good to know that you are getting great results with this combination of equipment.
