Getting Paul Roark's web site

Getting Paul Roark's web site

2003-08-18 by Peter Mc Mahon

Paul,
I am a new member of a few months. I too, would like to see your web
site and have been trying at times, over the months, without success.
My comment to you, "if my machine needed ink from your site, it would
have dried up a long time ago"
I just tried your new suggested URL, no go. My suggestion, get a new ISP.
regards,Peter.

Paul,

My web page seems to be working OK tonight for me. Several days ago
it was
acting weird, apparently a problem with the ISP.

"PaulRoark.com" is just a relay to free space I get from my DSL/Internet
provider (was General Telephone, which was acquired by Verizon). The main
photo page is at http://home1.gte.net/res0a2zt/photos.html . You
might give
this a try to see if it is the relay that is causing your problems.

Every time I've tried it, it works just fine. I just tried it again and
it's still fine. Try this:

http://home1.gte.net/res0a2zt/photos.html

Or this:

http://www.PaulRoark.com

Thanks,

couldn't get a connection just now.

Of the 5 or 6 times I've looked at Paul's site over the past year or
so it has worked for me every time, including just now.

Peter,

bear in mind that the Internet is just a network of wires and relays.
 And there are quite a
few of them between the US (where we are) and Australia. For the
problem look closer to home
and do not blame the Paul's site which works well whenever I try to log
to it.
I have repeated problems with logging to some European or Australian
sites. It's a the nature of the beast,
unfortunately.
Keep trying or check with your service provider.

Jack

Peter,
I cannot get through to Paul's site either - I have been trying for a couple
of weeks. I just tried through 3 different ISPs here in India (two dial up &
one cable) & I couldnt get through, kept getting a "HTTP 500 internal server
error", whatever that may mean. This is on Windows XP with Internet Explorer
6.

Peter,

The pattern seems to be that Europeans have more trouble access the web page
than US forum members. Also, the last time I heard of this problem N.Y. was
having a blackout and the latest worm was about to attack, so I thought
maybe that was related. At this point, however, there must be another
explanation.

One other thing that comes to mind is that it may relate to the time at
which people try to get access. Sometimes late at night my DSL/internet
does not work. Perhaps Verizon is doing some maintenance at night (here)
that is when European users would like to get access. Also, Verizon is
fighting strikes in the US East that may have them working with a very small
and untrained staff. (A friend who is a west coast Verizon lawyer was going
to be helping with installations in the east. Good luck guys, he doesn't
know jack about computers and electronics.)

Hopefully the problems are temporary. The web space is free and my options
are rather limited right now.

"PaulRoark.com" is just a relay to free space I get from my DSL/Internet

Is it possible that the lines that go overseas don't like the image files or
the relay from the PaulRoark.com to the ISP's space? Try the direct address
to the ISP's index for me (and my wife) at http://home1.gte.net/res0a2zt/ .
The images on that page of smaller and there would be no relay.
