double sided matt paper..?

double sided matt paper..?

2003-08-22 by scrber

I am really struggling to find a decent & reasonably priced double
sided matt paper for use with my Ultratones.
I am after A3+ size as they will be folded, sewn and bookbound in
half size.
So far I only have Bockingford, which sounds awful for pigment inks
(and very highly textured which is also not so idilic...) but
feedback appreciated.
OR Photorag Duo - read: horribly expensive.

Are there any others?
Usual caveat, I am UK based so many of your wonderful choices are not
available over here, sob.

Struggling.

Steve.

You may want to try www.inkjetgoodies.com, here in the US. I don't
know if they ship overseas, but e-mail them and ask. There is a new
line of papers out that are replacing the Eclipse papers, which had
dual sided matte papers that were quite good with MIS inks. I have
been using the Ultratones for about 2 months now on the remaining
stock of Eclipse that I have, and have ordered a sample pack of the
the new line from Moab(through inkjetgoodies). These papers are
supposed to be very much like the Eclipse, and very affordable.
Inkjetgoodies claim that they are as every bit as good as the Eclipse
line, with a better D-Max. I don't have any $ interest in
inkjetgoodies or what they sell. Just offering my experience with
their line of goods. Also, they are very good to work with.

Hi!

I have a similar question because I am looking for a double sided paper which has similar characteristics like Epson Archival Matte.
Any recommendations?

Best regards,

Jo,

You may want to look at Entrada Fine Art 190 from InkjetGoodies.com
and Lasal Photo Matte 170 for proofing.

Both are dual sided. The Entrada is 100% cotton and comes in the
standard white or in natural (no optical brighteners).

Yes - Epson Double Sided Matte Paper looks and feels exactly like
Archival Matte, except that it's double sided.

Thanks Keith, I remember looking at this back in the Eclipse days, by
the time I'd paid the shipping tax and duty it worked out cheaper to
use the PhotoRag sourced from the UK. I agree with Jo, a double
sided EAM A3+ would be perfect for me!

Steve,
Weber-Valentine http://www.weber-valentine.com/ has a double sided
paper that I have used for books called 738DMP or 750DMP. The 728 is
105g and the 750 is 190g. It is not archival but is a nice paper and
it's cheap! I needed leagal size and it is one of only a few that is
available in legal size. They have world wide distribution I think.

Are these papers opaque enough that you really don't see bleed-through from
ink on the reverse side? I'd like to do a personal book project and this is
a concern.
Thanks

Sue,
This is not a problem with the Weber-Valentine paper I refered to
earlier.
