Digital BW, The Print

Hello,
 
I've been a long time lurker and decided to post.  I just got into black
and white printing with Canon S9000 and lyson quad black inks.  I have
couple of questions. 
 
1)       I got a spare s9000 printer head which I'm planning to use with
lyson.  I also have a Ziploc bag to store the head when not printing.
Is there anything specific I should after I replace the head and store
it?
 
2)       I use Eye one icolor calibration software to profile my printer
for color work.  Did anybody try to use it to profile black and white?
If so does it work and what are the steps?
 
3)       I would like to print on Ilford Gallery Classic Pearl paper.
Does it work for black and white?
