[Digital BW] Dedicated 2200 for Septones?
2003-09-10 by Ken Schuster
I've been anxiously awaiting a method of printing monochrome with full tonalities, smooth transitions, good Dmax and without the dreaded metamerism. From the samples I've received, it looks like Septones is the closest I've seen to that goal. However, I've been told I'd have to buy another 2200, if I want to print color and mono. I queried InkjetGoodies about it...

Can you clear that up for me... and for other folks reading about it on the Yahoo! discussion group "DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint." ----- Original Message ----- From: InkjetGoodies.com To: Ken Schuster Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 12:48 PM Subject: Re: Question from Website Contact Us Page Ken, While we recommend dedicating the 2200 for Septone if a CIS is used, it is VERY reasonable to use the printer for both Septone and Ultrachrome printing. The only caveat is to use the entire Septone cartridge before removing or seal them with rivets in between. It wastes a small amount of ink to switch back and forth but we have been doing it here with very few hiccups. The Septone carts do not have resealable ports (only the Epson carts feature those) so if the cart is to be removed, a rivet should be used and tape should be placed on the vent hole. It's also important to understand that we cannot support cartridges which have been removed and reinserted as we have no control over the conditions in which they were stored, etc. Thanks.
