Paper query

Paper query

2003-09-11 by jshonle

Hi--
I am relatively new to this group, so I hope that this is not "old
stuff"

I have an Epson 3000 converted to Cone's PiezoTone inks (currently
the warm-neutral, but switching to cool neutral), using his export
plug-in.

I really like a nice white high light. So far I have been using
Legion Photo Matte in 13 x 19. I really like this paper, but it
doesn't seem to come in 17 x 22 size. I have been using Somerset
Photo Enhanced for this size, but the paper is not as white.

So my question is whether there is another paper that I should be
looking at to give nice white high lights and which comes in the 17
inch width? The other requirement is that it be one that has be
profiled for the older plug-in.

Thanks,
John

John,

I used to just slice 17" pieces of Epson Enhanced/"Archival" Matte from a
24" roll ($56 per 100 feet), place the curled paper between 2 damp blotter
papers to take the curl out, and feed them into my 3000 from the front tray.
It was cheap, easy and worked very well. The Piezo driver has an EAM
profile. Even if you have an older version, you can download the new
profiles, which is what I have done. Depending on the black ink you're
using, few if any other papers can match the EAM dynamic range (difference
between the white and black reflective densities).
