Any StudioPrint users out there ?

Any StudioPrint users out there ?

2003-09-29 by Peter Baumbach

Some time ago I have been complaining about "ugly vertical stripes"
with a StudioPrint demo version and an Epson 7600. Meanwhile I could
isolate the problem: it seems that it only occurs in one of
the "variable" dot modes of StudioPrint.

To be sure that it is not my new 7600 printer: could someone please
print a cmyk wedge (each channel continually varies from 0% to 100%)
without any profile attached and see if the tonal variations are
really smooth and monotonously increasing ? Print environment
settings: dot size = "variable1" or "variable2"; resolution =1440x720
dpi, dithering = "stochastic" or "error diffusion" or "smart
diffusion".

It would be great if you could help me with doing this test (I can
send you the cmyk wedge test file, please contact me off-line).

Many thanks in advance,
Peter

Yes, but I don't have an answer, only a question. If you are using 3rd
party inks in your 7600, how did you purge and flush to load them?

I don't use other inks, but there is a firmware update on the Epson site that will allow you to "purge" the inks from the printer. They say it is to prepare your printer for shipment, so it may not be a complete purge. But, it might help. It's under the driver/updates heading on the Epson site.

I don't have 3rd party inks in my 7600 at the moment. But if I had I
would switch all other lines off in the "print environment setting"
and do the purging and flushing only on those channels I want.
