1200 grinding noise

1200 grinding noise

2003-10-07 by Stephen Kobrin

Every few cycles my 1200 printer makes what can only be described as
a loud grinding noise after printing when the heads are on their way
back to the pad. If I run a nozzle check immediately afterwards it
is awful, but one or two cleaning cycles has cleared it up to this
point. Anyone know if I need to make an adjustment of some sorts or
is the printer telling me to think about a 1280?

Steve

This is a matter of routine maintenance. Try cleaning away the build-up on
the shiny bar that carries the printer head back and forth. It might look
clean, but it probably isn't.

I use a little windex on a towel. I finish with a drop of good quality
sewing machine oil.

Oil the rail the head rides on - quick! Hope it's not too late.
